Awards and diarrhea – but not necessarily in that order

Hello Internet. I have been ill. Not estate planing ill, but definitely stay in bed and groan ill. A fun fact my regular readers will know about me is that I don’t throw up. Ever. (I really hope I didn’t just jinx myself)

My inability to vomit has not necessarily been a good thing through the years. I have had to cross “jockey” and “bulimic” off my career options list. It also takes me longer to recover from stomach bugs, because what doesn’t come back up, must make its way alllll the way through my system before exiting in a violent liquid eruption from my back lot.

(You’re welcome for that visual. I sometimes forget to be sensitive to those mere mortals among me that *do* throw up.)

Yesterday was a Tuesday, and you know what that means – both kids were in school and I had a mile long list of errands to run. For those of you that didn’t know, diarrhea and vast, crowded parking lots are never a good mix. They are particularly daunting for a woman that has had more than enough experience in the pants-crapping department.  As I was making my way in to Best Buy to replace The Crappiest Printer Ever Made:

I began chanting to myself under my breath, “Please don’t shit your pants, please don’t shit your pants…” I passed an elderly man fussing with his hearing aid and I swear I saw him crack a smile. Something tells me he heard my mutterings.

I am proud to report that though I had to walk the last several yards on my tip toes with my back ram-rod straight, I made it to the toilet in time! WINNING!

Is it any surprise after reading the above anecdote that I have been awarded the prestigious Liebster Blog award? Clearly, if there are any small blogs deserving of more notice, this is one! Who doesn’t want to read about diarrhea? NO ONE, that’s who.

Here are the requirements of accepting this award:

The goal of the award is to spotlight up-and-coming blogs with less than 200 followers. The rules are:
  1. copy and paste the award on your blog
  2. thank the giver and link back to them
  3. reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog
  4. hope that your followers will spread the love to other bloggers

Kate over at paintingwithbrains was nice enough to pick me as a recipient. Thanks Kate! Go check her out and bask in the world of high school art instruction! (This may excite or disappoint, but I thought it fair to warn you that her blog has nothing to do with zombies.)

Now for the 5 blogs I would like to draw attention to:

ResearchingPhebe because I love history, wit and social awkwardness more than I love Cadbury creme eggs on Easter.

Gweenbrick because “He looks like what all bad smells would look like, if they were to take on human form.” and I love him for it!

Cynicism 101 because I firmly believe higher education is important – especially *this* kind of higher education.

3O’clockcrazy because her incredible artwork is always a delight – even if you’re not a mom.

And last but certainly not least, makedinneryourbitch, because it’s an awesome blog, and the chef promises to get off her lazy ass and post more soon! (lazy bitch.)

Thanks again, Kate. If ever I become famous and paparazzi worthy, I will always remember you as my original stalker-fan.

Aww, thank you for the award and for spreading your Christmas love.
I, too, do not throw up. I repress it as if it is my duty- as if it will save the world if I do not puke. I am sure that it has done some damage to my gastrointestinal business. I live in fear of people puking around me every day; and that I will in turn be afflicted with their virus. It is a fear greater than the fear of death. This time of year is the worst- as stomach viruses seem to spread like wildfire. Wishing your system a speedy recovery! xo

Thank you! I am almost back to my regular self. By tomorrow I should have enough energy back to begin training to be a masked Mexican wrestler!

Sorry about your…stomach problems…too, K. And that Researching Phebe chick seems awesome. Thanks for pushing her awkwardness on others! You’re the bestest! I’m excited to check out those other links too. Oh, and good gravy, but I wish I couldn’t throw up. I really do.

Hey Kristy! Thanks so much for the award :-) I know, I know… my thanks is LOOONG overdue. I’m absolutely horrible with certain blog things, and awards is one of them. I’m doing a post on Monday regarding a few of the awards and yours is one of em.

    Again, thanks so much!

You’re welcome, Doc. I know awards can sometimes be a pain in the ass, but I feel bad not paying them forward and sharing the love. I hope you had a nice holiday break.
