Meet blog idol? Check.

One of these ladies is a crazy mother of 2. The other one is Heather B. Armstrong.
I have met a handful of celebrities in my life – even some A listers – and I like to think I successfully pulled off the nonchalant, I know who you are, but I’m too cool to make a big deal about it. Not so, last night. Last night I got to meet a blogging idol of mine; Heather B. Armstrong from Dooce.com.
She was in town for a meeting at the White House. Afterward, she agreed to meet up with a few of her followers at a local restaurant bar. I jumped at the chance. After wandering around Old Ebbitts Grill, thinking she must have changed her mind, I finally stumbled upon a back bar. (How many freakin’ bars does that place have?) There she was! I hugged her, and spent the next several minutes being a smiling, mooney eyed ass. Why was I so star struck by Heather, and not the Hollywood celebrities? Because I feel like I know Heather. She writes very blunt and honest things about her life (and her feelings *wink*) on her blog, and after reading about her daily ups and downs, you can’t help but feel a certain camaraderie with her.
After I calmed down and started chatting with Heather and the other beautiful ladies (and token men), it turned in to a surreal, fun night. Heather was exactly the way I expected her to be. She does an excellent job of bringing through her personality in her writing. Oh, and she’s hot! (A sweet old man asked, “Is she a Playboy bunny or something?” To which we naturally replied, “Yes.”)
We talked about blogging, relationships, what it feels like when your milk lets down (try explaining THAT one to people who haven’t experienced it!) and other juicy bits that will remain locked in The Vault. In short, she was awesome.
We agree on many things – politics, religion, childrearing… but there is one area we will forever have to agree to disagree on: The proper pronounciation of “crayon”. I am decidedly on Team Jon on this one.

All in all it was a great night, I met some wonderful, funny ladies, and I didn’t get lost navigating the countless turnabouts in DC. Win!
